A British household brand, Bovril is the trademarked name of a thick, salty meat (beef) extract paste, similar to a yeast extract. Incepted in 1889 by John Lawson Johnston, it is instantly recognizable from its distinctive, bulbous jar – although it is also available in cube and granule form, today. Highly nutritious and flavorsome, Bovril is equally versatile in application. Quick and easy to prepare, it can be mixed with beverages, spread over other foods, or used as a cooking ingredient.
